Peru vs Colombia Match Preview
Peru has been one of the more surprising teams out of the CONEMBOL region, currently in fifth with 25 points. Los Incas have not lost in five consecutive matches, this includes wins against Uruguay and Ecuador and a draw against Ecuador as some of the more impressive results.
Ricardo Gareca counts with a very solid squad with a balanced mix of young talent and experienced players on his squad. This will be a tough match against a formidable opponent but the home-field advantage may propel Peru to the three points from the game.
Colombia has been a solid team in this CONMEBOL region as expected currently fourth with 26 points. Los Cafeteros can still lose a ticket to Russia as Peru, Argentina and Paraguay are not far behind in the standings. Jose Pekerman’s team can ensure its direct spot in the next World Cup with a win in this game and can at least ensure a spot in the inter-confederation play-offs with a draw.
Colombia has solid players, who play in top leagues like James Rodriguez, David Ospina, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Cuadrado and Radamel Falcao and should be able to get at least a point from the game. The match should be very entertaining given what is at stake for both teams and should prove to be a very hard-fought encounter.
